Construction Accident
August 21, 2007
On Tuesday August 21, 2007 Harrisburg Fire Department was
dispatched to an MVA. Engine 2 arrived in the area, but was unable to
locate an MVA. Engine 1 was also in the area in and was flagged down by
construction workers. As Engine 1 and Engine 2 stopped to investigate,
they found a partial roof collapse in a townhouse under construction.
There was one victim trapped. Captain Overcash had Ladder 1 dispatched
as both crews immediately attended to the patient and began to set up a
lowering system to remove the patient from the 2nd floor. The
patient was quickly packaged and lowered successfully via stokes basket.
The cause of the roof collapse was due to strong winds from a
thunderstorm that came through the area.
